Nobody predicted the recession, but it’s here, and we’re well heavy-laden in an economic slowdown. You may even be recently unemployed. You can stop reading the papers, but you can’t get away from the fact of life that the world is in a recession and it’s not going away anytime soon.

However, there are always methods to help yourself into a better financial position. The conventional ways of looking for a job are not so good when you have 80 other people applying for the very same job position. Reading the newspaper, going to the dole office, etc – you’re just part of the masses looking for work in this unimaginative way.

You should look for a job placement in ways in which your competition are few and far between. These days a lot of companies publish work placements on their website, so use Google and type in keywords to identify local firms. Use a variety of key words between locale only e.g. Tamworth UK jobs, and locale and profession e.g. help desk jobs Tamworth.

Another idea is to work for yourself – become self-employed. What we’ve discovered over the last year or so is that large firms can go bankrupt very quickly. Self-employment puts destiny in your own hands, which is something no employee of a firm can ever say they have. The main thing is you pick the kind of job you enjoy since you will need to be motivated.
